Your Parish, Your Voice

📊 You told me:

“Work with residents.”, “Listen, just like this.”

That is exactly what I intend to do.

Ensuring All Voices Are Heard

St Helier needs leadership that listens and acts.

Listening must be continuous, not just at election time. A Parish that speaks up for itself and brings people into decisions, not keeps them at a distance.

I will work to bring people closer to Parish life, build understanding of how it works, and give people the confidence to take part in decisions that shape our community.

I will:

  • Continue regular drop-in sessions across different neighbourhoods
  • Create more opportunities for community conversations
  • Work closely with residents’ groups, schools and local organisations

I will also:

  • Explore online participation and engagement
  • Improve access to Parish meetings
  • Make it easier for people to understand and take part in decisions

Parish life should feel open, clear and accessible.

I will work to:

  • Improve understanding of how the Parish works
  • Make decisions and spending more transparent
  • Build confidence for people to take part and influence how their rates are spent.

This is about building a Parish that reflects everyone,  including young people, minorities and new residents.

Engaging the Next Generation

We need to connect young people to Parish life early. During last two terms I was a Member of Political Education and Awareness Sub-Committee and would like to progress with a vision that we have

I would like to create opportunities for young people, especially at 16, to engage with the Parish.

This could include:

  • Marking the moment young people reach voting age
  • Creating welcoming opportunities to learn about the Parish
  • Helping them feel part of the community and its future

A Parish that includes young people is a Parish that stays strong.

 A Parish That Leads

This is about more than process, it is about culture.

A Parish that:

  • Listens openly
  • Acts with clarity
  • Represents its people strongly
  • Brings the community into decisions
