A greener St Helier is a stronger St Helier.

St Helier should be a place where people can breathe, pause and enjoy their surroundings — not just pass through.

Cleaner, greener streets are not just about appearance. They improve mental health, support biodiversity, reduce pollution and create a stronger sense of pride in our community.

As your Constable, I will take a practical, coordinated approach to making St Helier greener, healthier and more liveable for everyone.

 A Greener St Helier

I will work to develop a joined-up Greening St Helier programme, bringing together  the Parish, Government, community groups and local organisations.

This will focus on:

  • Increasing tree planting and urban greenery
  • Improving and protecting existing parks and green spaces
  • Supporting pollinators and biodiversity
  • Greening streets, school areas and public spaces

This is about long-term change — not one-off projects, but a sustained commitment to a greener town.

 Pockets of Nature

Access to nature should be part of everyday life.

I will support the creation and promotion of Pockets of Nature across St Helier:

  • Small, accessible green spaces within walking distance
  • Quiet places for rest, reflection and wellbeing
  • Linked routes between parks and green areas

These spaces do not need to be large to make a difference. Even small green corners can support mental health and community connection.

Community Growing & Allotments

Growing food and plants brings people together and supports wellbeing.

will:

  • Explore pop-up allotments on temporary or unused sites
  • Support community growing spaces across the Parish
  • Increase access to allotments where possible

These initiatives:

  • Help with the cost of living
  • Build skills and confidence
  • Strengthen community connections

Flexible, moveable solutions mean we can use land creatively as the town develops.

 Supporting Biodiversity & Rewilding

Nature needs space to thrive  even in urban areas.

I will support pocket rewilding and biodiversity projects:

  • Allowing selected areas to grow more naturally
  • Creating habitats for pollinators and wildlife
  • Reducing maintenance costs while improving environmental outcomes

This approach complements traditional parks and creates a more resilient and sustainable urban environment.

For me it’s clear:

Greener St Helier means:

  • Streets that feel cared for
  • Spaces where people want to spend time
  • A healthier environment for future generations

This is about practical action, delivered locally, with the community at its heart.
