I believe Jersey is big enough to be a diverse community, and small enough to be a caring community.

I believe a successful and flourishing Jersey is dependent upon the collective efforts, financial contributions and good will of the business sector, the government, charities and all permanent residents.

If I will be elected, I will continue to

·  listening to the community and by doing so to re-establish faith in its political representatives;

·  promoting and creating practical opportunities for all ages to participate in active multi-generational activities.

·  promoting a strong caring community which respects all cultures and encourages full participation of all groups in our society

·  continuing the development of Island-wide community activities involving churches, charities, government departments parishes, and the people to seek to do away with the isolation felt by young parents, the elderly, people with disabilities and other vulnerable groups by creating community groups with common goals;

Supporting Our Senior Citizens:

  • I will promote independent living. This ensures elderly people remain living in their own homes for as long as they can safely do so.
  • I will be committed to community services, and ensure enough community based support is in place to meet the needs of the community while continuing to support initiatives managed by the Parish of St. Helier.

I will continue to  develop community hubs: These are clubs and social groups for all ages, situated in our highly populated areas such as La  Pouquelaye, the West of town and First Tower. These aim to decrease the isolation experienced by young parents, the elderly, the disabled and other vulnerable groups.

Support for Senior Citizens

·  Working towards an action plan that will enable elderly people to feel that they are an active and considered part of society;

·  Embracing the use of modern technology to remove the fear that many elderly people have of it. Such activity will be part of a strategy to enable older people stay as long as possible in their own homes and communities; and

·  Enabling older people to get out and about by providing appropriate transportation (e.g. ‘hopper’ buses) to encourage their engagement in enjoyable and meaningful activities thus reducing social isolation;
